The Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana for girls and women has been implemented in Rajasthan by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot. Through this scheme, every year 36 thousand 300 girls and women of the state will be provided higher education through distance medium, who cannot go to college and university regularly due to various reasons. The state government will also give reimbursement of fees paid to these girls and women institutions for taking education. For which approval of Rs 14.83 crore has been given.

State Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced to implement this scheme in the state in the budget of 2022-23. It was approved by the Chief Minister only in the implementation of the said announcement. Now Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana has been implemented by the government in the entire state.

Which universities will provide higher education through distance mode?
Under this scheme, the state government will provide higher education to eligible girls and women through distance education through a state-aided university, state institute / Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota. The state government has made a provision of 16000 seats in undergraduate level courses, 5300 in postgraduate courses, 10000 in diploma courses, 3000 in PG diploma courses and 2000 seats in certificate courses for the reimbursement of fees for girls and women. The special thing about Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana is that under this, along with connecting girls to higher education through distance medium, the fees will also be reimbursed by the government.
Objective of Rajasthan Girls Distance Education Scheme
The main objective of implementing this scheme in Rajasthan is to connect girls and women with higher education through distance medium. Because there are many girls and women in the state who want to get higher education but due to various reasons can not go to regular college and university and get education. Due to which she leaves her education midway. But now these girls will be connected to higher education through Rajasthan Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana. This scheme will promote girl’s higher education in the state and will make the future of the girl child bright by getting higher education.

Features of Balika Durashth Shiksha Yojana
- Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had announced the implementation of the Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana in the budget 2022-23.

Eligibility under the Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana
- Applicant women and girls should be permanent residents of Rajasthan.
- Only 12th class pass women and girls are eligible to apply under this scheme.
- On the other hand, girls / women can apply under this scheme, who cannot go to university and college regularly due to various reasons.
- Only for Graduation, Post Graduation, Diploma Courses, PG Diploma Courses and Certificate Courses can apply under Balika Durasth Shiksha Yojana Rajasthan.
