Children in rural areas suffer from malnutrition due to lack of adequate nutritious food. This problem is mostly found in children studying in primary school. Schemes like mid-day meal have also been started by the government for nutrition. But still anemia, calcium deficiency etc. are found in children. Keeping this problem in mind, the Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana has been started by the Rajasthan government in the budget of 2022-23. The scheme was launched at the state level by the Chief Minister in Jaipur. Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, free milk will be provided to the children of classes one to eight.
Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana was launched by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on 29 November 2022 at Civil Line Jaipur. The scheme has been launched simultaneously in entire Rajasthan. Under this scheme, children from classes I to VIII will be provided milk in addition to the mid-day meal. Milk will be provided to the children twice a week i.e. on Tuesday and Friday. Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, 15 grams of powdered milk to 150 milliliters of milk will be made available to children of classes 1 to 5 and 20 grams of powdered milk to 200 milliliters of milk to children of classes 6 to 8.
Under Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, powdered milk will be made available by the state government in schools, primary schools, madrassas, special training centers associated with the mid-day meal. Powdered milk will be procured from Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Foundation.

Objective of Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana
The main objective of starting the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana by the Rajasthan government is to distribute milk to provide nutrition to the students studying in the schools, primary schools, madrassas, special training centers of the state. Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, milk prepared from powdered milk will be made available twice a week to children of classes I to VIII to prevent malnutrition. Through this scheme, powdered milk and supply will be done from Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Foundation Limited.
Milk is to be fed to children in schools immediately after the prayer meeting. If the scheduled day is a holiday, milk will be given to the students on the next teacher’s day. Milk will speed up the physical and mental development of children and will also keep them away from diseases. Health will also be good if children get enough protein-rich milk through this scheme.
Quantity of milk under Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana
Under the Rajasthan Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, milk will also be provided to the children of classes I to VIII along with the mid-day meal. Milk will be provided to the children twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays by the state government. Milk will be made available to the students of classes 1 to 8 of Rajasthan as per the prescribed quantity.

Benefits and features of Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana
- Through the Bal Gopal Yojana, milk will be made available to students in schools, primary schools, madrassas, special training centers in Rajasthan connected with the mid-day meal.
- Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, milk powder will be made available to the children of class 1 to 8 of Rajasthan 2 days a week i.e. on Tuesday and Friday.
- If there is a holiday on these days due to any reason, then milk will be distributed on the next day.
- Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, 15 grams of powdered milk to 150 milliliters of milk will be made available to children of classes 1 to 5 and 20 grams of powdered milk to 200 milliliters of milk to children of classes 6 to 8.
- Distribution of Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana Milk powder will be distributed in every district with the help of mid day meal and distribution of milk powder will be done by RCDF in every school.
- The school management will be responsible for providing milk to the children and the school management committee and RCDF will be responsible for measuring the quality of milk.
- By getting the benefit of this scheme, the children will be mentally and physically strong.
- Children will be encouraged to enroll in school through Bal Gopal Yojana. Due to which the access to education will also improve.
- About 60 lakh children of Rajasthan will be benefited through this scheme.
- Health will also be good if children get enough protein-rich milk through this scheme.
Eligibility for Chief Minister Bal Gopal Yojana
- Under the Mukhyamantri Bal Gopal Yojana, students studying in primary and upper primary schools, madrassas, special training centers, benefited from the mid-day meal scheme, will be eligible.
- The benefit of this scheme will be provided only to the children of class I to VIII of Rajasthan.
