Jharkhand Abua Awas Yojana 2024
Jharkhand Cabinet Committee has approved Abua Housing Scheme on 18 October 2023. In this scheme, the state government will provide 3 room houses to poor people for free. The houses under the Abua Awas Yojana will be larger in size compared to the houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The new Abua Awas Yojana will cost the state exchequer Rs 16,320 crore in the next 3 years. Abua Housing Scheme was first announced by CM Hemant Soren on the occasion of Independence Day i.e. 15 August 2023.

The benefit of this scheme will be given to all those families of the state who have not been able to get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Families deprived of the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana will be brought under the ambit of Abua Awas Yojana. In order to provide the benefits of the scheme to the needy and poor families, the Jharkhand government will provide permanent houses to people of all income castes without any discrimination. Through this scheme, three-room houses will be prepared and given to poor families. Due to which poor families will not have to face financial crunch to build permanent houses.

Cabinet approves Jharkhand Abua Awas Yojana
Now houses will be constructed for the poor under the new Abua Awas Yojana by the Jharkhand government. With the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, not only will the size of the houses be larger but the services will also be more. People will be able to live life with dignity. Chief Minister Hemant Soren gave this information to the media after the cabinet meeting on October 18. The CM said that many welfare initiatives are launched in every cabinet meeting. In the recent meeting, the cabinet has decided to provide houses to the needy under the Abua Awas Yojana .
Along with this, a new scheme named Mukhyamantri Gram Gadi Yojana will be started to increase rural connectivity. This MGGY scheme will especially benefit old persons, women, students, freedom fighters. About 1 crore people will benefit from CM Gram Gadi Yojana. A total of 29 proposals were approved in the cabinet meeting held under the leadership of CM.
Details of houses in Abua Awas Yojana
- Under Abua Awas Yojana, permanent houses with 3 rooms, 1 kitchen and 1 bathroom will be built.
- The total built up area will be at least 31 square metres.
- Provision for 3 clean rooms and clean kitchen has been made to ensure that people live in hygienic conditions.
- Under Abua Awas Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will get an enhanced assistance amount of Rs 2 lakh for constructing houses.
Also, the beneficiary will receive the equivalent of a maximum of 95 unskilled man days at the prevailing wage rate (revised from time to time) for the construction of his house under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA).

Beneficiaries of Abua Awas Yojana
The following beneficiaries will benefit from the Abua Awas Yojana:-
- families living in kutcha houses
- homeless and destitute families
- Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) Families
- families affected by natural disasters
- Legally released bonded laborers and their families
- Those who have not received the benefit of housing scheme run by the state government or central government and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural / Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana / Birsa Awas Yojana / Indira Awas Yojana.
There is a provision in Jharkhand Abua Awas Yojana that according to the eligibility criteria, a permanent waiting list of the beneficiaries will be prepared in the Gram Sabha.

- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Jharkhand state.
- The applicant must be a resident of any rural area located within the territory of Jharkhand state.

- Even the left out beneficiaries of PMAY Housing Scheme and other homeless people will be included in the Abua Housing Scheme.
