Many changes start taking place in the body of girls from the age of 12, one of them is menstruation (period) every month. In such a situation, many girls use clothes during menstruation. Which is very dangerous for their health. In view of this, Chief Minister Kishori Swasthya Yojana is being operated by the Bihar Government Education Department under the Chief Minister Kanya Utthan Yojana. Under this scheme, girl students studying in government schools are given money by the government every year to buy sanitary napkins for menstruation.

Under the Chief Minister Kanya Utthan Yojana, the Chief Minister Kishori Swasthya Yojana has been started by the Education Department of Bihar Government. Under this scheme, girl students studying in government schools are provided so that their health does not suffer any harm. For this, Bihar Government provides benefits to girl students of government schools from class 7th to class 12th. Under the Mukhyamantri Kishori Swasthya Yojana, girls are given money by the state government to buy sanitary napkins. The benefit of this scheme is given only to those girl students whose menstrual cycle has started. Every year, a health amount of Rs 300 is provided to the eligible girls by the Government of Bihar. So that they can buy sanitary napkins.

Benefits and features of Mukhyamnatri Kishori Swasthya Yojana

• To support adolescent girls in self-development and empowerment.
• Improving nutrition and health status.
• To make them aware through health, hygiene and nutrition education
• Reintegrating out-of-school adolescent girls back into the formal education system or developing alternative education/skills.
• To develop their home based skills and life skills.
• Providing information/guidance regarding available public services like primary health centres, rural hospitals/community health centres, post offices, banks, police stations etc.
• Under the nutrition item, rice, egg and soybean meal are provided in the form of THR to out-of-school adolescent girls of 11-14 years of age. For this Rs 9.50. Nutritious material containing 600 calories and 18-20 grams of protein per beneficiary per day is given for 25 days in a month.
• Iron folic acid complex, health check up and referral services, health and nutrition education, reintegration of out-of-school adolescent girls into the formal education system or mainstreaming through alternative education/skill development, life skills education, home management, Advice/guidance etc. in availing public services.

Eligibility for Chief Minister Kishori Swasthya Scheme

• Only girls of Bihar state will be eligible to avail the benefits of Mukhyamantri Kishori Swasthya Yojana.
• The benefit of this scheme will be provided only to girl students studying in government schools.
• Girl students studying from class 7 to class 12 will be eligible for this scheme.
• Under this scheme only those girl students will be given benefits. The menstrual cycle has started.
