Yuva Pradhanmantri Yojana 2024

Yuva Pradhan Mantri Yojana 2.0 has been started by the Ministry of Education on 2 October 2022. Which is part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to bring forth the thoughts of the young generation of writers on the subject of Democracy (Institutions, Events, People, Constitutional Values-Past, Present and Future). The main objective of this scheme is to motivate young and budding writers to read, write and promote book culture in the country. Youth below the age of 30 years will be included under Yuva Pradhan Mantri Yojana 2.0. Who can write on many subjects to promote Indian heritage, culture and knowledge system. These writing subjects will be written in 22 regional languages of India as well as in English. Young writers can cover various aspects of democracy in India past, present and future.

The Ministry of Education has also opened an online window for young writers to express themselves and present their comprehensive vision of Indian democratic values at domestic and international forums. To ensure exchange of culture and literature in Yuva Pradhanmantri Yojana 2.0, books will also be translated in other Indian languages to promote “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”. In addition, the selected youth will be given an opportunity to interact with the best writers of the world and participate in literary festivals.

Selection Procedure of Young Authors

A total of 75 authors will be selected through an All India Contest hosted on MyGov platform. https://mygov.in
The selection will be made by a Committee to be constituted by NBT.
Scheme will be launched on 2nd October 2022.
The Contest Period will be from 2nd October to 30th November 2022.
The contestants will be asked to submit a Book proposal of 10,000 words. Therefore, division as per the following :

Synopsis: 2000-3000 words
Chapter Plan: Yes
Two-three sample chapters: 7000-8000 words
Bibliography and References: Yes

The Evaluation Period of the Proposals will be from 1st December 2022- 31st January 2023.
The Meeting of the National Jury will be in first week of February 2023.
The names of selected authors will be announced in the last week of February 2023.
The Mentorship duration would be from 1st March 2023- 31st August 2023.
The Publication of the First set of books will commence from 2nd October 2023.

Guidelines PM Mentoring Yuva Scheme

Applicants who had qualified for the PM-YUVA scheme 2021-22(final Result only) are not eligible for PM-YUVA 2.0 scheme 2022-23.
Contestants should not have any personal, professional, or academic obligations that interfere with the mentorship schedule during the PM-YUVA 2.0.
The maximum age of the contestant should be exactly 30 years or below as on 2nd October 2022.
The submissions of the manuscript will be accepted through MyGov only till 11:59 PM on 30th November 2022.
The genre of the entry of PM-YUVA 2.0 scheme should be Non-Fiction only.
The change of topic of the Book Proposal will not be allowed after submission.
There should be only ONE entry per person.

Announcement of results under Yuva Pradhan Mantri Yojana

The results of the All India Competition have been announced by the National Book Trust. This competition was organized on the topic National Movement of India. The competition was organized by the Government of India under the PM Youth Mentorship Scheme under the Amrit Mahotsav program of India. In this competition, 75 young writers have been selected by the government. Young writers below the age of 30 were selected under this scheme. Scholarship will be provided to all the selected writers. This scholarship will be of ₹ 50000. To participate in this scheme, writers had to prepare a manuscript on the National Movement of India of 5000 words.

On the basis of this manuscript, a committee constituted by the National Book Trust was to be selected to write the participating book. The All India Competition was organized from 1st June to 31st July. The competition received around 16,000 entries from across the country in 22 Indian official languages and English. These included the Indian expatriate community as well. These books were read and level checked by a panel of experts.

Mentorship Schedule –Six Months

The National Book Trust, India will organise a Two-Week Writers’ Online Programme for the selected candidates.
During which the young authors will be trained by two eminent authors/mentors from NBT’s panel of accomplished authors and writers.
In addition, eminent authors/mentors under NBT’s Advisory Panel and other eminent authors from various languages will mentor and guide them on how to exercise their literary skills.
The eco-system of publishing–how a content is created, authors are mentored, the editorial processes that take place, literary agents spot creative talent would be an integral aspect of the programme.
The authors will get to expand their understanding and hone their skills through interaction at various international events such as Literary Festivals, Book Fairs virtual Book Fair, Cultural Exchange Programmes, etc.

Disbursement of Scholarships

At the end of training and mentorship a consolidated scholarship of Rs. 50,000 per month for a period of six months (50,000 x 6 = Rs. 3 Lakh) per author will be paid under the Mentorship Scheme for the books developed under the scheme.
A royalty of 10% will be payable to the authors on successful publications of their books at the end of the Mentorship Program.
The books thus published under the scheme may be translated into other Indian languages ensuring the exchange of culture and literature between different states of India and thereby promoting Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat.
They will also be given a platform to promote their books and also to propagate the Reading and Writing culture on a national scale.

10% royalty will be provided to Yuva Pradhanmantri Yojana writers

Out of 75 young writers selected under this scheme, 38 are men and 37 are women. Out of which two authors are below 15 years of age and 16 authors are between 15 to 20 years of age. Apart from this, 32 authors are in the age group of 20 to 25 years and 25 authors are in the age group of 26 to 30 years. Selected authors will be provided mentorship wherein they will be provided with research and editorial support under the guidance of eminent authors and teams from the National Book Trust. Apart from this, work will be done on the book proposals of the authors to be published in the form of pre-books.

Books written by the authors will also be translated into other Indian languages. All the selected writers will be provided a scholarship of ₹50000 for 6 months. Apart from this, 10% royalty will also be provided on the successful publication of his books. The announcement to start this scheme was made on 29 May 2021. So that young writers can be encouraged. This scheme is a very important opportunity for all the writers and youth through which they can enhance their writing skills. This plan is a type of writing mentorship program.
