West Bengal announced the “Chaa Sundari Housing Scheme” to provide houses to tea workers. In the next 3 years, the state govt. will give funds for construction of houses for all permanent workers of tea estates without house of their own. A sum of Rs. 500 crores was allocated for the WB Chaa Sundari Scheme.WB state govt. is playing the development card in lieu of the upcoming assembly elections. Many of these tea workers though do not have a house to call their own due to their poor economic condition.

The main objective of the scheme is to provide benefits to all of the tea labourers. The benefits will be provided by the minister of the state Labour Department. The scheme will be starting on 17 September 2020. Houses will be constructed for more than 750 families who are currently working towards the development of the tea estate in the West Bengal State. The ration will also be distributed among the workers in subsidised rates.
