Balika Samridhi Yojana 2024

Under the Balika Samriddhi Yojana, financial assistance will be provided by the government on the birth of a girl child and on completion of her studies. This financial assistance will be provided to improve the negative thinking towards daughters in the country. Under this scheme, financial assistance of ₹ 500 will be provided on the birth of a girl child. After this, till she reaches class X, she will be given a fixed amount every year.

This financial assistance amount is being provided to promote the education of daughters. She can withdraw this amount from the bank on completion of 18 years. Girls born on or after August 15, 1997 can take advantage of Balika Samridhi Yojana. To take advantage of this scheme, you have to apply.

Objective of Balika Samridhi Yojana

The main objective of this scheme is to provide scholarship for education to the girls living below the poverty line. Through this scheme, the negative thinking of people towards girls will also improve and daughters will not have to face any financial crunch in their studies. Through this Balika Samridhi Yojana, the parents of daughters will also be encouraged to provide them education.

Benefits and features of Balika Samridhi Yojana

• Under this scheme, financial assistance will be provided by the government on the birth of a girl child and on completion of her studies.
• Negative thinking towards daughters will improve through this scheme.
• Financial assistance of ₹ 500 will be provided by the government on the birth of a girl child.
• A fixed amount will be provided to the girl child every year till she reaches class X.

Some important terms and conditions for availing the benefits of Balika Samriddhi Yojana

• Under this scheme, the amount of benefit is transferred directly to the account of the girl child through Direct Benefit Transfer.
• If the girl child dies before attaining the age of 18 years, then the amount available in her account can be withdrawn.
• If the girl child gets married before attaining the age of 18 years, then the girl child will have to give up the scholarship amount and the interest earned thereon. She can only take post-birth grant and interest thereon.
• Only unmarried girls can take advantage of this scheme. To get the benefit of this scheme, the beneficiary will have to submit a certificate in which it will be certified that the girl child is unmarried. This certificate will be issued by the Municipality or the Gram Panchayat.
• Under Balika Samridhi Yojana, the girl child can also withdraw a fixed amount after completing 18 years of age.
• The grant or scholarship can be used to pay the premium for an insurance policy under the Bhagyashree Balika Kalyan Bima Yojana in the name of the girl child.
• Scholarship amount can be used to buy text books or uniform for the girl child.

Eligibility to apply in Balika Samridhi Yojana

• To apply under this scheme, it is mandatory for the applicant to be a permanent resident of India.
• Only girl child can apply under this scheme.
• The girl child should be from a family living below the poverty line.
• The girl child should be born on or after 15 August 1997.
• Only two girls of a family can take advantage of this scheme.
