The implementation of the plan to make women associated with Women Self Help Groups (SHG) millionaires has started. On August 15, the Prime Minister had announced the launch of Lakhpati Didi Scheme. Under this scheme, the government has decided to spend Rs 1261 crore and provide drones to 15,000 women SHGs.
Under the decision taken in the Cabinet Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi late on Tuesday night, 14,500 drones will be given to women SHGs during the next two financial years 2024-25 and financial year 25-26. Regarding this, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that this scheme is very important as a part of PM Modi’s Lakhpati Didi initiative.

Through this drone scheme, drones will help in spraying fertilizers and pesticides. For this, training of about 15 days will be given. The Union Minister said that the drone pilot will get an honorarium of Rs 15,000 and the co-pilot will get around Rs 10,000.

Objective of Drone Didi Scheme
The main objective of launching the Mahila Self Help Group Drone Scheme by the Prime Minister is to provide drones to the Mahila Self Help Groups to enable the farmers to use the technology in farming to improve the efficiency of spraying of fertilizers and pesticides. After this, farmers will be able to rent drones from self-help groups for agricultural use. And will be able to do their farming in a better way. This scheme will not only benefit self-help women but will also enable the use of advanced technology in agriculture, which will also increase the income of farmers.
15 thousand drones will be provided to women. Through these Drone Didi, women will be empowered, they will become self-reliant, their livelihood will improve through employment generation. Along with this, increasing use of drones in farming will also improve farming.
Government will provide assistance up to Rs 8 lakh
Let us tell you that in his Independence Day speech on August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the Drone Didi Scheme from the Red Fort to empower the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with drone technology. Under this scheme, for the purchase of drone, women self-help groups will be given assistance up to 80 percent of the cost of the drone and accessories/accessories charges or a maximum of Rs 8 lakh. The remaining amount will be available as a loan under the Agricultural Infra Financing Facility on which 3 percent interest subsidy will also be given.
Union Minister Anurag Thakur has said that this scheme is important as part of PM Modi’s Lakhpati Didi initiative. Which will play an important role in the drone service sector. There are about 10 crore women in the country who are part of self-help groups. Of these, 15,000 drones will be provided to women self-help groups.
