Indira Gandhi Shehri Rojgar Guarantee Scheme 2024
Rajasthan Indira Gandhi Shehri Rojgar Guarantee Scheme has been launched by the Government of Rajasthan. Through this scheme, from next year, 100 days of employment will be provided in urban areas on demanding work on the lines of MNREGA. 800 crores will be spent for the operation of this scheme. Till now this scheme was being operated in rural areas but now this scheme will also be implemented for citizens living in urban areas.

MNREGA duration will be extended in rural areas of Rajasthan
During the budget announcement, the Rajasthan government has also announced to increase the employment of 100 days of MGNREGA (rural) to 125 days. The expenditure of 25 days employment will be borne by the state government. For which an expenditure of about Rs 700 crore will be borne by the state government. This scheme is a kind of Indian labor law and social security measure. Through this scheme at least 100 days of employment is provided in a financial year to increase the security of employment in rural areas.
MGNREGA was proposed in 1991 and was accepted in Parliament in 2006. This scheme is implemented in every district of the country. The plan is said to be the largest and most ambitious social security and public works program in the world. Apart from this, this program was also called as an example of rural development by the World Bank in the Development Report 2014.
Guidelines issued for implementation of the scheme
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has issued new guidelines for the implementation of Indira Gandhi Shahari Rozgar Yojana. In the budget of the year 2022, it was announced by the government that 100 days of employment per year would be provided to the families residing in urban areas under the Indira Gandhi Shehri Rojgar Guarantee Scheme. For which Rs 800 crore will be spent by the government. According to the new guidelines issued by the government, citizens in the age group of 18 years to 60 years residing in the local body area can register under this scheme on the basis of their Jan Aadhar card.
The work will be approved and executed through committees at the state, district and body level. The ratio of material cost and labor cost to those works which will be of general nature to be approved and executed is 25:75 and those works which will be of special nature, the ratio of their material cost and remuneration payment will be 75:25.
