UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme 2024
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued a statement for those buying electric vehicles in the state. According to this statement, all customers purchasing electric vehicles in the state after the date of notification of the policy i.e. 14 October 2022 will be eligible to get subsidy on electric vehicles from the government. However, to avail this subsidy, customers will have to opt for UP EV Subsidy Portal Registration.

The dedicated portal for this registration process is upevsubsidy.in. This portal will be functional soon and all eligible customers will be able to apply online for subsidy on it. Customers who register successfully will receive the subsidy directly into their registered bank accounts.

Purchase subsidy to buyers of electric vehicles
Under this subsidy scheme, purchase subsidy will be provided as early bird incentive when buyers apply for the purchase of electric vehicles. To provide purchase subsidy incentive, the portal “Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Portal (upevsubsidy.in)” has been developed.
- This purchase subsidy for individual buyers will be admissible only on purchase of a single 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler or e-bus or e-goods carrier.
- This purchase subsidy will be allowed to aggregators/fleet operator buyers on the purchase of maximum ten 2 wheelers or 4 wheelers and on the purchase of maximum five e-buses or e-goods carriers.
- Purchase subsidy under this scheme will be allowed to any buyer only once during the effective period of this scheme.
- The permissible “Purchase Subsidy” will be provided in the form of reimbursement, which will be transferred directly to the buyer after verification from the dealer.
- If in any case the vehicle is purchased by the buyer without battery, then only 50 percent of the permissible “purchase subsidy” will be provided on it.
- Projects receiving incentives under this policy will not be eligible to receive incentives under any other policy of the state government. The incentives mentioned under this policy will be admissible in addition to the incentives available in the scheme/policy of the Government of India.
- To provide purchase subsidy to the eligible applicant, he will have to submit the application on the web portal upevsubsidy.in.
Buyers exempted from registration fee and road tax
- At the rate of 100 percent on purchase and registration of Electric Vehicles (EV) purchased and registered in the state of Uttar Pradesh within 03 years from the date of policy notification 14.10.2022.
- At the rate of 100 percent on Electric Vehicles (EVs) manufactured, purchased and registered in Uttar Pradesh in the fourth and fifth years of the effective period of the policy.
Necessary provisions have been made in Vahan-4.0 software for the above relaxation. This discount will be provided through dealer point registration at the time of registration.
Subsidy will be given according to vehicle category
Purchasing subsidy will be provided as early bird incentive to the buyers in the defined segments at the following rates during the period of 01 year from the date of notification made specifically for this subsidy scheme: –
- 2 wheeler electric vehicle at Rs. 15 per cent of ex-factory cost to the extent of Rs 5,000 per vehicle, permissible for a maximum of 2 lakh electric vehicles subject to a maximum outlay of Rs 100 crore.
- 4 wheeler electric vehicles up to the limit of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle, 15 percent of ex-factory cost, maximum 25 thousand electric vehicles are allowed subject to a maximum outlay of Rs 250 crore.
- E-buses (non-government) up to a limit of Rs 20 lakh per vehicle, 15 per cent of ex-factory cost, subject to a maximum outlay of Rs 80 crore, with a maximum of 400 e-buses permitted.
- 10 percent of the ex-factory cost of e-goods carrier to the extent of Rs. 1 lakh per vehicle, permissible for a maximum of 1000 e-goods carriers subject to a maximum outlay of Rs. 10 crore.
Guidelines for Applicants
- Applicant means an EV vehicle buyer who has purchased and registered an electric vehicle of permissible category in his own name in Uttar Pradesh after October 14, 2022.
- To apply, the applicant will first have to create login credentials (login id & password) on the Electric Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Portal (upevsubsidy.in) as per the arrangements given on the said portal. The process of creating login credentials (login id & password) is given on the portal.
- After entering the vehicle registration number in the application, the subsidy portal will automatically fill the necessary details from the vehicle portal in the relevant fields/columns of the application. The fields/columns which are not filled will have to be filled by the applicant, like:- To get purchase subsidy Applicant’s bank details (bank name, account number, IFSC code etc.).
- The applicant will have to upload his/her photograph and signature. Keep in mind that the applicant will upload the same photograph and signature which he had uploaded on the vehicle portal through the dealer at the time of vehicle registration.
- The applicant will also have to upload his Canceled Check or Passbook for verification of bank account details. Keep in mind that it is mandatory for the bank account to be in the applicant’s name only, any other person’s bank account will not be acceptable.
- Before submitting the application, the applicant will confirm that all the details filled by him (related to the vehicle and personal details of the applicant) are correct. If incorrect or wrong information or details are filled, purchase subsidy will not be payable to the applicant.

- Mobile Number (at the time of application for motor vehicle registration)
Documents Required to Apply Online for Electric Vehicle Subsidy
- Copy of passport size photograph submitted during vehicle registration
- Copy of signature submitted during registration of vehicle
- Copy of buyer’s Aadhaar in individual cases or copy of GST certificate/PAN card in case of non-individual purchases
- Copy of vehicle registration certificate
- Copy of canceled check or passbook where buyer’s name and account number is mentioned
Eligibility for Electric Vehicle Subsidy
- To avail the benefits of Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- Only individual buyers will be given the benefit of subsidy on one vehicle only.
- Only customers purchasing electric vehicles after October 14, 2022 will be eligible for Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy.
- Persons purchasing two wheeler, four wheeler, e bus or e goods carrier will be eligible for subsidy.
- To get subsidy, the applicant will have to provide bank account details in his own name at the time of application.
- Under this scheme, subsidy will be admissible to any buyer only once in the effective period.

Benefits and features of UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy
- Citizens of Uttar Pradesh will be benefited through UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy.
- Under this scheme, the government will provide subsidy to the citizens of Uttar Pradesh on purchasing electric vehicles.
- Under UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy, a subsidy of Rs 5000 will be provided by the government on the purchase of two wheeler electric vehicle.
- Customers purchasing four wheeler electric vehicles will be given a subsidy benefit of Rs 1 lakh.
- Subsidy benefit of up to Rs 2 lakh will be provided on purchase of e-buses.
- Through UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy, 2 lakh two wheeler vehicles and 25 thousand four wheeler vehicles and 400 e buses of Uttar Pradesh will get subsidy.
- The benefit of UP Electric Vehicle Subsidy will be provided only to those citizens who have purchased electric vehicles after October 14, 2022.
- Individual buyers will be given the benefit of subsidy on only one vehicle.
- The subsidy provided by the Uttar Pradesh government will be directly transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary.
- To avail the benefit of Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme, citizens will have to apply through online after which they will be provided the benefit of this scheme.
Electric Vehicle Subsidy in Uttar Pradesh
- First of all, visit the official EV subsidy portal of Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh https://upevsubsidy.in/.
- Once you reach the homepage, click on “Apply Online” link or https://upevsubsidy.in/register to open the page for UP EV Subsidy Registration 2023-24.
- Enter vehicle number, last 5 digits chassis number, mobile number and click on “Send OTP” button.
- Then you have to validate the OTP to proceed to UP EV Subsidy Portal Login by clicking on “Applicant Login” button and complete the registration process.
- Then enter the vehicle number and click on “Send OTP” button or you can simply login with the password to complete the application process for UP EV Subsidy Scheme.
If you have forgotten your password which you entered during registration, you can click on the “Forget Password” link.

- First of all, visit the official EV subsidy portal of Transport Department of Uttar Pradesh https://upevsubsidy.in/.
- On reaching the homepage, click on “Application Status” link or https://upevsubsidy.in/status to open the page to check UP EV subsidy status.
- To track electric vehicle subsidy status in UP, enter vehicle number, chassis number (last 5 digits) and click on “Get Application Status” button.
