WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme 2024

The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee has launched the WB Krishak Bandhu scheme in order to provide financial assistance to farmers in 2018. The Chief Minister has now decided to relaunch this scheme. On 17th June 2021, it was announced that the financial assistance under this scheme will be doubled. Previously farmers used to get Rs 5000 per annum for the land holding of one acre or more. Now farmers will get Rs 10000 per annum doubling its benefits. Doubling the benefit of the WB Krishak Bandhu scheme was a part of the election manifesto of Trinamool Congress. Through this scheme around 68 lakh farmers will be benefited.

Through the implementation of the Krishak Bandhu scheme, the farmers of the West Bengal region will get certain benefits such as assured income and also death benefits whenever or wherever they need it. Through the implementation of the scheme, many benefits will be availed by the farmers which will mainly be the financial benefits as promised by the Chief Minister of West Bengal State. This scheme will prove to be the biggest asset in terms of financial help for all of the farmers who are poverty-stricken in India.

Objective Of WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme

The main objective of WB Krishak Bandhu scheme is to provide financial assistance to the farmers of West Bengal state. Under the scheme along with financial assistance, a life insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh will also be given to the beneficiaries. With the help of the financial incentives provided by the government, the families of farmers will become self-dependent in such a way that they are not required to depend on others for their needs. The financial condition of farmers will also improve with the help of WB Krishak Bandhu scheme.

Benefits Of Krishak Bandhu Scheme

There are many benefits of the Krishak Bandhu scheme as announced by the Chief Minister of West Bengal state that is MS Mamata Banerjee. Some of the benefits are given below:-

• A life cover insurance of rupees 200000 will be given to every beneficiary as per the scheme.
• Insurance cover will be provided to all of the farmers who die accidentally in the process of implementation of the scheme.
• The crop cover Insurance of rupees 5000 will be given in two installments to the beneficiaries.
• A 3 thousand crores rupees budget is decided for the implementation of this scheme.
• Insurance cover will be provided in between 15 days after the death of the victim.
• The premium for Crop Insurance will also be provided by the state government to all of the beneficiaries under the scheme.
• Rupees 5,000 per acre in two installments are also provided to the beneficiaries, one in Kharif and the other in Rabi season.

WB Krishak Bandhu Scheme Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant should be resident of West Bengal State.
• Only Farmers can Apply.
• Your age should be between 18 to 60 years.

Key Features of Scheme

• The money will be available through the agriculture department Krishak Bandhu” schemes would benefit over 72 lakh farmers of the state. Both the projects will be launched from January, and the farmers can apply for relief from February onward.
• A new policy to grant Rs 2 lakh per farmer family in case of a death of a farmer The registration of farmers and share-croppers under this scheme will start February onwards. Benefits will accrue from January 1, 2019.

Components Of The Scheme

There are two components of the West Bengal Krishak Bandhu scheme as mentioned below:-

# Assured Income- Under the assured income, financial assistance will be provided to all of the farmers and the beneficiaries which will be selected in the scheme. The scheme has two more options given below:-

• Farmers with one or more acre landholding are entitled to get Rs. 5000 p.a for both Rabi & Kharif Seasons.

1. 1st installment will be provided in the month of June
2. 2nd installment will be provided in the month of November.

• Also, farmers would be given minimum assistance of Rs. 2000 per annum on a pro-rata basis.

# Death Benefit- Under the death benefit scheme, the families of the farmers would be provided with Rs. 2 lakh including suicide. All the farmers whose age is in between 18 to 60 years can avail new insurance policy benefits.
